Rental Information

Please read the following terms carefully before placing your booking. By completing a reservation with EVX.life, you acknowledge and agree to the conditions outlined below.

1. Eligibility

To rent a vehicle from EVX.life, the primary renter must hold a valid, full driver's licence and be at least 21 years of age. International renters must present a valid overseas licence along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) if the licence is not issued in English.

EVX.life reserves the right to refuse any booking where the renter does not meet these requirements at the time of pick-up.

2. Bookings & Payment

All bookings are made through the EVX.life website and are subject to availability. Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged. Prices displayed are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST where applicable.

By completing a booking, you agree to the rental period, pricing, and any selected add-ons as shown at checkout.

3. Security Deposit

A security deposit is required for all rentals. The deposit amount ranges from $300 to $3,500 (NZD) depending on the product you are renting. The exact deposit amount for your selected item will be displayed at checkout.

The deposit is placed as a hold on your payment method at the time of booking and is fully refundable upon the satisfactory return of the rental item in its original condition, subject to the terms outlined in this agreement.

EVX.life reserves the right to deduct from the security deposit any costs relating to damage, excessive cleaning, late returns, or other breaches of these terms.

4. Pick-Up & Return

All rentals are based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Pick-up and return options include our Scarborough home office (free of charge) or Christchurch Airport / city locations (fees apply and are calculated at checkout).

Renters must return all items by the agreed date and time. Late returns may incur additional daily charges at the applicable rental rate. If you need to extend your booking, please contact us as early as possible — extensions are subject to availability.

5. Vehicle Condition & Charging

Vehicles are provided in clean condition with the battery charged to approximately 90–95%. The renter is expected to return the vehicle in a similar state of cleanliness and charge.

Upon return, the vehicle must have a minimum battery level of 65%, or the same level as at handover (whichever is higher). If the vehicle is returned below 65% or significantly lower than the handover level, a recharge service fee may apply.

A $99 cleaning fee applies if the vehicle interior is returned in an excessively dirty condition.

6. Kilometre Allowance

Each rental includes a standard kilometre allowance as specified on the product listing. Kilometres exceeding the included allowance will be charged at the per-kilometre rate stated on the product page.

An Unlimited KMs add-on is available at checkout for renters who anticipate higher usage. Bookings of 4 days or more are eligible for 20% off both the vehicle rental and the Unlimited KMs add-on.

7. Use of Rental Items

All rental items must be used in a responsible and lawful manner. The renter agrees to the following conditions:

Vehicles must not be driven on unsealed roads, beaches, riverbeds, or other off-road surfaces unless expressly permitted.

The Tesla Model Y RWD (2022) is not permitted on ski field access roads or in alpine snow conditions.

The Kia EV9 GT-Line (AWD) may be driven to ski fields, however snow chains are mandatory during winter and must be hired directly from EVX.life to ensure correct fitment (21-inch wheels).

Smoking, vaping, and the transport of pets are not permitted in any vehicle unless prior written consent is obtained from EVX.life.

The renter is responsible for all traffic infringements, tolls, and fines incurred during the rental period.

8. Damage & Liability

The renter is responsible for any damage to, loss of, or theft of the rental item(s) during the rental period, including damage caused by third parties. Any damage must be reported to EVX.life immediately.

The cost of repairs or replacement will be assessed and may be deducted from the security deposit. Where costs exceed the deposit amount, the renter will be liable for the remaining balance.

EVX.life is not liable for any personal injury, loss of belongings, or indirect damages arising from the use of our rental products.

9. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pick-up may be subject to a cancellation fee.

No-shows or failure to collect the rental item at the agreed time without prior notice will result in forfeiture of the full rental payment.

EVX.life reserves the right to cancel a booking at any time due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be issued.

10. EV Charging on the Road

New Zealand has an extensive public EV charging network. Charging costs incurred at public stations during your rental period are the renter's responsibility unless otherwise stated.

For Tesla vehicles, Supercharger usage is billed separately after your trip. EVX.life will provide detailed charging invoices for full transparency.

We will walk you through charging options and any required apps at handover to ensure you are confident before departure.

11. Starlink & Accessory Rentals

Starlink Mini rentals, e-bikes, power stations, projectors, car seats, bike racks, and other accessories are subject to the same general terms regarding security deposits, condition on return, and liability.

Starlink data plans must be selected at the time of booking. Data usage beyond your selected plan may incur additional charges. Rental items must be returned with all original components, cables, and accessories.

12. Privacy & Personal Information

Personal information collected during the booking process is used solely for the purpose of managing your rental and will be handled in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. EVX.life will not share your personal information with third parties except where required by law or necessary to process your booking.

13. Amendments to These Terms

EVX.life reserves the right to update or modify these rental terms at any time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. It is the renter's responsibility to review the current terms prior to each booking.
